Strava updates Global Heatmap, now see popular activities worldwide


Social Network for athletes platform-Strava has announced a major update to the Global Heatmap which was launched in 2015. The new update to the Strava Global Heatmap, consist of a beautiful data visualization of Starva’s global network of athletes.

The new heatmap of activities consist of 1 billion activities worldwide by athletes using the Strava app. The data visualisation in the form of heatmap is 13 trillion pixels rasterized representation of activities of various kinds such as running, cycling, water and winter activities. 10 terabytes of raw input data and a total distance of 27 billion km (17 billion miles).

Strava introduced personal heatmaps way back in 2013 and is been used by athletes and trainers. The feature which is available for premium member lets users to create personal heatmaps and share with friends.
